Summer in the big city is pretty hot. Everything literally comes to a boil. Legit the puddles in the street start steaming. But believe it or not, the blazing heat is no match for a New York gal. While some women in other parts of the country might worry sick about swamp ass and sweaty armpits, we don’t. Our confidence is unmatched, bazillion degrees, be damned. We’re not defaulting to shorts and a tee just because of a little…ok…a LOT of heat.

When you’re hitting the city streets the most popular places to hide from the scorching sun and piss smelling streets is a bar, restaurant or shop. Despite feeling like the sun is sizzling your very own skin, you walk into one of these places and you immediately feel like an extra in Frozen. Your beads of sweat crystallize, and it’s so cold indoors that you’re left wondering if you’ve spiked a fever.

If you often find yourself in this conundrum — don’t sweat it (LOLOLOLOLOL) I have some outfit ideas for ya!

Luckily this first outfit idea will work anywhere. First off, start with some flared jeans. My vision is black denim but blue would work too. Then I always opt for a nice white tank. A high neckline tank is ideal, but I usually go for a regular old spaghetti strap tank. Gen Z, if you’re reading this, I don’t know what to tell you. Grab a sponge bob tank and call it a day. Since you might be hit with the frigid blast of an enormous air conditioner, I would grab an over sized white button up. For your shoes I am obsessed with a platform sandal. In my opinion it gives the outfit that trendy go with the flow vibe. I love an outfit like this because it really can go from a casual day to night really easily.

Next up is a fun blazer option. This summer is all about pops of color. I think it’s great to add a little spice to your life when it comes to color. For this second look, the pop of color should be in the main piece. In this case, it is the blazer. I opted for a lime-ish green blazer. If you don’t have a colorful one then add your color with some accessories. Here I just added a plain black cotton tank. Super comfy and very versatile. Paired with some flared cropped denim to make it a little more casual. For the shoes you have two options. Find the same color used in your main piece, or go neutral. For example, I could have found shoes that were the same shade of green as my blazer. Although I would have loved that, I didn’t have any green shoes lying around and ya girl is on a budget, so neutral it is. This outfit gives me a rooftop all night kinda vibe. And if the wind in the air turns chilly, no worries — we’ve got the blazer!

Last, but certainly not least, is a super casual look. This can be worn on the daily and is so comfortable. I love a good flowing, cut off top. Pair it with flared denim as per usual and some walkable sandals. Comfy and casual kind of screams ou-of-towner, but whatever! Pretend to be a tourist for the day! See how many people tell you to fuck off! JUST KIDDING. New Yorkers are so nice… I threw on a bright colored knit sweater for some pop of color and added playful sunnies. Everything looks better with a good pair of sunnies. Remember that. I love outfits like this because it could easily transition into night by just adding some cute heeled sandals. Throw an outfit like this on, enjoy your stroll in Central Park and go grab a drink at the Loeb Boathouse outdoor bar. Prrrrfection.

There you have it. Three super easy and flexible outfits that will get you through your city adventure! Where are you going next? Most importantly what are you going to wear!? Let us know! We can’t wait to hear!
