Cello Wine & Cocktail Bistro
You know when you’ve had a rough day at work and you just need to meet your friends for a glass of wine to forget all about it? I was having one of those days when I was invited to meet my friends at Cello Wine & Cocktail Bistro in Midtown East.
Cello is located at 226 E. 53rd Street in New York City and a convenient spot for all those finance peeps who work uptown and not in the financial district.
We walked into Cello and I immediately loved the vibe. The bar is dimly lit, with a very chic decor, brick walls, and good energy. The front bar area is on the smaller size but doesn’t feel tight, just cozy. There is also a room in the back that is perfect for hosting get-togethers or after work happy hours with your coworkers!
What We Loved:
Right off the bat, we were greeted with a smile from the bartender, who is also one of the owners! He grabbed a few glasses and gave us the happy hour options. I said something about being in the mood for a bubbly rose type wine and he said he didn’t have anything quite like that on happy hour, but he was nice enough to let me try something he had just ordered as a test for the possibility of being added to the menu. I have to say, it was crisp, clean and I am so happy he offered it to me!
We ordered a few snacks to share between us. Being the basic bitches that we are, we ordered a meat & cheese board, Murray’s Collection, as one of them. Other than the fact that the board was beautifully assembled and tasted delicious, there were these adorable little flags indicating the type of cheese in each pile. Usually we’re just guessing as we go through the cheese. It was such a nice touch.
We also ordered the Sicilian Eggplant Caponata. If you get one thing from this little review, it is to order this. It was freshing, satisfying, and full of flavor. I could have eaten the whole bowl by myself! It comes with toasted baguette pieces, and they actually give you enough! Most places give you like 4 slices of bread for dips and dishes like this, but not Cello. No, Cello hooks you up!
What We Didn’t:
I personally cannot think of a thing. It was a perfect experience!

Cello is perfect for a girls night out, a post-work happy hour, or a cute little date night for our couples.
Would We Recommend It:
In a heartbeat! Cello is a must-visit in Midtown East!
